Meet the Women of WBN

Why did you join WBN?

I joined Saturday morning class as I am desperate to lose weight and want to get fit whilst doing so.

What have you achieved at WBN?

My confidence has increased massively and my fitness is increasing each week, I'm still no where near fit, but with my new found confidence, I know I will get there in the end. I have so far lost Two and a half stone, I attend Slimming World, but diet alone is not enough.

What is your favourite part of the class?

I don't really have a favourite part, I enjoy it all, some weeks I really have to drag my arse there, but once I'm there, it's awesome and I always feel fantastic after each session.

Also, the support from everyone is amazing, oh and our coach is f**king awesome!

Why did you join WBN?

I took part in a charity boxing match in September 2014 and really enjoyed the training.  A friend recommended I give WBN a try.  So I did and have never looked back!

What have you achieved at WBN?

When I had my fight I lost a lot of confidence and didn't think I would ever spar again but since coming to WBN I have been taught the technical skills I was lacking before.  Colin and his training has giving me my confidence back. I have made new friends and enjoy seeing them every week.

What is your favourite part of the class?

I love everything about the session and come away knowing I have worked had.  We have plenty of banter and laughs along the way.

I recommend WBN to all my friends to give it a try. We are a fantastic, supportive group and never look down on those who are just starting out or self conscious. We help you up and always there for you whenever self doubts sets in! Your fitness improves in such a short time. Give it a try and you'll never look back.

Why did you join WBN?

I only came to WBN at far cotton on the first session because I was dragged there by 3 other friends that wanted to try it. I really believed there was no way I would be into this as I had never done it or anything like it before, or if I would be any good at it so I was very nervous at first.

After the first session I was instantly hooked. I found it hard but was addictive and you totally get out what you put in. The atmosphere is so encouraging from our awesome coach and all the other ladies. It’s really friendly and there is a real sense of everyone working together and helping each other do their best.

What have you achieved at WBN?

Since joining WBN my fitness has improved so much. So much more that I agreed to and completed a 10k obstacle run and a 50 mile bike ride for charity and I honestly believe I completed these because of the encouragement and support from WBN.

The boxing technique is taught with detail and care, there is no pressure to get in the ring and use the skills but getting the technique right and striving

for perfection is.

I absolutely love it, it has helped me build confidence and make some amazing friends which makes you want to go and not miss a single session.

What is your favourite part of the class?

My favourite part is all of it. You can’t get bored, it doesn’t get easier but as you get stronger you see and feel such a difference. I would recommend to any woman that wants to get fitter to

give it a go.

Why did you join wbn?

I joined as I’ve always had a love of boxing/martial arts and wanted to join in with a group of likeminded people. Having, been to some ‘boxing’ classes at the gym, I wanted to train and punch properly and not play at it.

What is your favourite part of the class?

My favourite part of the session is pad work,

particularly when we do circular punches!

I really enjoy the company of the girls and Colin and consider many now as my friends. Saturday mornings

are now my favourite part of the week.

Why did you join WBN?

I joined WBN after taking part in a Ultra White collar Boxing event. I loved boxing and wanted to keep it up. WBN is local to me, excellent value for money and has superb coaching. When I turned up, all the ladies were extremely welcoming and it was like I had been here forever! It's also great that you can pay as you go and know that you do not have the burden of any financial obligations with the club.

What have you achieved with the group?

With the group, I have achieved a higher level of fitness and made friends with a group of like minded, fun women.

What is your favourite part of the session?

My favourite part of the session is partnered pad work as I love punching things, especially on the move! I also enjoy doing a circuit, however, I must add, I HATE burpees! The ethos at WBN is one of hard work, unity and determination but with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I often end up giggling whilst trying to do something else. I would highly recommend to any body and have brought several friends with me since I started who now enjoy the sessions too.

Why did you join WBN?

I joined WBN to get back into boxing after I left school because boxing was a lesson there and i really enjoyed it. The only downside to boxing with school was that i had to train with the boys which made me feel uncomfortable. I began to search the internet for female boxing classes before leaving school so that I would have something to go straight to when I left. Unfortunately, I found no results that were local to me and were female only. A couple of months later, there was an advertisement on facebook for WBN and I was instantly interested. I got in contact with Colin and then went to try it out. The ladies there were really supportive and friendly and it was already clear to me that Colin was a fantastic coach.

What have you achieved with the group?

The answer to this, must definitely be... CONFIDENCE!! Everyone at WBN is really supportive and everyone wants to help everyone improve. Whether you are there to keep fit, or you are there because you want to fight, every single woman there (oh, and Colin) will help you along the way. We are like a big boxing family which makes you feel at ease.

Not only has my confidence improved, we have all met new people and built good relationships with each other and our punches just keep getting stronger!!!

What is your favourite part of the class?

My favourite part of the session must be the technique! I enjoy continuously improving the power and technique of my punches as well as blocks and the loud sound of my gloves punching the pads is so much motivation because I automatically feel like I want them to be louder! Finally, the speed and

accuracy of your punches are constantly increasing and if you were then to decide that you were ready to step into the ring, you would be as sharp as nails and have unbelievably speedy reactions.

Not sure about joining WBN? Come for a taster session and meet the girls! You will love it!

Why did you join WBN?

I joined WBN initially as I wanted somewhere where I could use boxing as a way of getting fitter. I loved the fact that atmosphere is encouraging and supportive and there is always great banter!

What have you achieved at WBN?

Joining WBN has allowed me to progress far more with my boxing technique, and develop new skills. I have gained in confidence in the ring, and more importantly have made lasting friendships outside of the ring.

What is your favourite part of the class?

My favourite part of a WBN session is the pad work. I love learning new combinations, and really enjoy it when the moves all come together and you get that satisfying 'thwack' of a well executed hit to the pads.

Why did you join WBN?

I joined WBN to get fit and have a chance to work with other girl boxers.

What have you achieved with the group?

I have achieved so much, we've been sparring every session, which improved my sparring a lot, we've been working so hard and getting everything right for this whole year.

What is your favourite part of the class?

My favourite parts are the sparring, when we do pads with each other and when we do sprints at the end of the session.

I would also like to mention that we are a big boxing family that helps and supports each other and gives 100% effort in everything we do.
